- A system of certification that exceeds NCLB, as expectations are universal, not limited to Title I funding, and require specified coursework
- The general conditions necessary to become certified:
- 36 semester hours of post-secondary education
- Nine semester hours in reading, writing, and mathematical computations,
- Six semester hours from the humanities, fine arts, and/or physical, biological or social sciences,
- Three semester hours in computer literacy,
- Three semester hours in special education,
- Three semester hours in classroom management,
- Three semester hours in human growth and development or psychology,
- Nine semester hours of electives related to public instruction or its equivalent,
- Meet a rigorous standard of quality and demonstrate, through a formal state approved academic assessment
- Recommendation of the Superintendent
- 36 semester hours of post-secondary education
- An Initial certificate is valid for one year, but a permanent certificate continues unless surrendered, suspended, or revoked.
